The divine crew at Aspire Gallery in Brisbane have once again asked for a collection to take to the Brisbane Affordable Art Fair this May and I couldn't wait to create these pieces for them. Such a dream.

This collection continues my obsession with imaginary and dreamy skies. But more than that, these paintings represent a conversation I have with each canvas as I paint. My process is intuitive, it's alive and honest. I don't follow a pre-planned study, instead I lose myself in the process, in the what-if, in the interaction of mark making and paint application, of mixing colours and exploring different ways to apply the colours. To that end, it's always a surprise at the end of each day as I stand back and see what happened. As I look at these finished pieces, I can remember the music, the mood, what I was feeling with each piece.

So it feels a disservice to simply say they are paintings of dreamy skies. They are far more than that. But I think having a painting of a dreamy sky to bring calm and an invitation to reflect on the wonder of nature for just a moment is pretty good, too.
