I'm sitting here writing this early on Sunday morning, the last day of the Affordable Art Fair, Melbourne. My collection was sold out by Saturday afternoon and I'm beyond amazed at the support my beloved Melbourne has shown for art, and the unbelievable stamina of my gallery, Aspire Gallery, to do the wonderful job they do.

To have the opportunity to continue to create dreamlike skies of wonder, to spend each day deep in my imagination, singing and dancing and remembering what it feels like to escape in a daydream, to travel, to be present under magic skies is such a thrill.

This collection felt a little different. Very subtly. But for an artist hyper-focussed on the tiniest details, it felt monumental! And that translated into a bit of anxiety: what if the changes don't read well, what if I've broken the lucky streak that connected my work with collectors? 

Is it just me, or are artists just generally a bit superstitious. True story, I'm finishing 2 collections as we speak and I'm wearing the same combo socks and gumboots to paint in because each time I wear something different, I have difficult paint sessions!

I changed canvas supplier for this collection and the different canvas reacted differently to my process, my usual way of painting didn't work. It was a battle to create something that looked like it did in my mind. My usual flick of a brush wasn't working. I had to do it differently. I'm not convinced I won, but I'm pleased with the results, eventually. That disconnect feeds anxiety, uncertainty, it has me 2nd guessing, it encourages imposter syndromes. 

So to sit here with my morning coffee recalling the moment yesterday when the last of my collection sold is the most wonderful feeling.

I am on a deadline to get the next 2 collections finished for the upcoming Sydney Affordable Art Fair and a duo show in Melbourne. I have a feeling my euphoric feeling will render my gumboots unnecessary!
